Alan Doran is a man with a great wealth of local knowledge. I walked with him through his beautiful landscaped garden, through the garden gate, which led us to the banks of the Barrow. There we spoke about the way of life in the early years of the twentieth century in the town, and the many clear memories he has of the type of class distinction which existed between the rich and the poor.
