In this recording Dan Donovan focuses on his teaching career. He recalls his own schooldays at the Presentation Brothers’ School in the Mardyke, from 1932. Teachers such as Connie Buckley made a great impression on him and Dan achieved first place in Ireland in English. He also recalls at great length his student days in UCC, speaks about his teaching career, and the formation of a guild to perform some magnificent plays. The people who came together to achieve this were all fondly remembered. He recalls the followers of the amateur movement, the drama festivals, and the burgeoning interest in choral singing, drama and sculpture.
