Larry Concannon is a native of Armagh, who joined Bord na Móna in Dublin. He was employed as a surveyor at Bellacorrick and later at Bangor Erris and later still he managed the works at Bellacorrick. He has great praise for the pioneering spirit of the men and their great loyalty. In 1957, the new coalition government closed the Bangor Erris works and downgraded the Bellacorrick works. In 1961 Larry Concannon was placed in charge of production and he describes the shifts and the workers who would be covered in milled peat dust on their way home after a shift.
