Kilmainham Jail in Dublin holds a definite reminder of our past. Many of our patriots were imprisoned and executed there. The corridors echo with their voices and their presence can be felt in many of the cells. I spoke to Niamh O’Sullivan, an archivist in Kilmainham Jail, to understand more about how people like Thomas Francis Meagher, Charles Stuart Parnell and Robert Emmet spent their time in Kilmainham, one of our more inhumane prisons of the nineteenth century.
