In this recording Pat Murphy focuses on political activity in the nineteenth century to the early part of the twentieth century, and the effects on the local people. We also spoke about the Farmers’ Federation, and how Arthur Kavanagh stood for the Farmers’ Party in 1927, and got a large vote locally, though he failed to be elected. Pat describes his father’s internment in Curragh Camp, and his incredible escape from the camp in 1923.
