Traveller and musician, a legend in his own time, known far and wide for his banjo playing and ballad singing. At his home in Killimer surrounded by his wife and family, he recalled his upbringing, music and experiences.

A return visit to Pecker Dunne’s home in Killimer, County Clare, proved to be a memorable one. Pecker spoke to me about his experiences as a Traveller in Ballybunion. He plays the fiddle with his family and for the first time since his recent illness he also sang “Ballybunion by the sea” a song which he wrote himself.
