Una, who comes from Ballyferriter and John, who hails from Annascaul, both in West Kerry, share some wonderful memories with me in this wide-ranging interview. Their tales recall the days going back to the early 1900s. They spoke of their memories of sheep farming, spinning and carding the wool and also weaving the flannel. Other memories included attending the pig sales in Tralee in the 1930s, collecting shell fish and cooking on the open hearth. Local entertainment in the 1930s included open house dances. Other fascinating stories provided by Una and John involved the Famine and the Troubles (1916-21) and West Kerry.
