Description
Willie Joe Meally recalls his family’s commitment to the mining way of life. In 1924 his father began work in the Deerpark mine, and before that, as a younger man, had worked in Glenmullen mine. His mother’s siblings, the Wallaces, were all miners in the area. A fine poem, recited by Willie Joe, about the mining in the area provides a glimpse of the hidden depths in the life of a miner.
