This significant and wide-ranging oral history project, comprising 287 recordings and conducted over three years, commemorates the centenary of the of the formation of the Irish Free State (Saorstát Eireann).
The interviewees include leaders in business and finance, in the arts and culture arenas, in media, agriculture, education, politics, engineering and architecture, health, the defence forces, and sport. These men and women, or their immediate family members, have all made a significant contribution to life in Ireland since the foundation of the state.

The catalogue is organised thematically and gives details of the 287 individual recordings as follows:
– Name, date of birth and image of the person recorded
– Date, Location and Length of the recording
– Key Words indicating content of the recording.
