Track 1: Background in Dublin. Early education and entering University College Dublin to study History and German. Following graduate study in Germany and Austria, her lectureship in Manchester for 17 years. Track 2: Appointed to the Chair of German at Trinity College Dublin in 1975. Memories of her students, many of whom came from Northern Ireland. Track 3: Developing the German curriculum and the challenges generally faced in the College. Track 4: Comparisons between Irish and German culture. Track 5: Elected to the Board and Council of Trinity and, to a new post, Dean of Foreign Students in 1979. Became Registrar of Trinity in 1981, the first woman to hold such a post in any university in Ireland or the UK. Track 6: Retirement in 1998 and her continuing involvement in professional life, becoming Pro Vice-Chancellor in 2000.
