The treatment of some unmarried mothers and their babies in Ireland in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s is something of which we cannot be proud. Fr Frank Bergin’s contribution to their wellbeing was very positive in that he found adoptive parents for the babies. He was a pioneer in promoting new adoption laws. This recording also details his ecumenical work in bringing together the Protestant and Catholic communities in Shinrone, which had been divided for many generations.
