This is the third of a three-part oral history project entitled ‘1922-2022: A Century of Change’ to mark the centenary of the formation of the Irish Free State (Saorstát Eireann). The completed three-part collection captures a wide and colourful tapestry of Irish life since the foundation of the Irish State.

Our aim for the project was to record and catalogue the testimony of up to 300 individuals who themselves, or their immediate families, have helped to create the vibrant Ireland in which we live and work today.

The 67 interviewees in part three of the three-part collection include leaders in business and finance, in the community and in the arenas of arts and culture; experts in agriculture, education, media and politics; practitioners of engineering and architecture and owners of Irish Country Houses.

The interviewees discuss topics ranging from challenges facing women in business, engineering and education; peacekeeping and charitable missions overseas to impactful careers in politics, medicine and the arts.
