Bill Leonard is a native of Carrig on Shannon, Co Roscommon and is former head of the Institute of Technology. He became a Civil Servant for the Dublin Corporation in 1965, at the age of 17. He worked in the Finance Office under Sean Haughey, a brother of Charlie Haughey. Later, one of his responsibilities was at the City Abattoir, and also the Wash House (before the days of laundrettes). Subsequently he worked in the motor tax area, also taking a position in the Roads Department. In 1980, he was one of the founder members of the Tallaght Credit Union. This recording includes many interesting anecdotes of life as a public servant in Dublin.
