Caít ní Bhuachalla was born into a family of thirteen children. Her father was a hill farmer who worked large tracts of mountain at Fohiree. The family home was situated beside an old route which ran between Ballyvourney and Kilgarvan in County Kerry, and Cáit fondly recalls the ‘Knights of the Road’ who regularly travelled the route. Cáit is a very talented lady who has gathered, over many years, a wonderful store of sean nós songs, and during the recording she sings a few of these with great gusto. She is proud of the fact that the late Taoiseach Jack Lynch’s people came originally from her own townland of Fohiree, Ballyvourney.
