Clare, from Killarney, told me that she always had great respect for her family’s possessions. Her photographs and scrap albums were carefully hoarded away. On a recent visit to Clare’s house I was privileged to see one of the family’s scrap albums. We turned the pages with great interest as Clare related the stories behind each photograph. She recalls the businesses in Killarney in the 1940s and 50s, the residents of the town and the significance of the Dick Fitzgerald GAA grounds to the local community. Clare also spoke about Monsignor O’Flaherty, religious practices and Irish dancing.
