Tommy O’Carroll has lived in Causeway all his life, where he has practiced the ancient craft of the blacksmith since the late 1920s. His family have been blacksmiths in the same forge for three generations. Apart from the usual work of the blacksmith, Tommy also crafted gates, railings, cranes for over the open hearth, axels for the carts and repaired farm implements. He has witnessed, with great humour and insight, enormous social and political changes during much of the 20th century.
