It is fascinating to place on record the life stories of three Cork masons. These recordings are unique because they deal with the lives of two families, who for generations were involved in the building business. We look at the life of a mason, starting with his apprenticeship, and his use of his working tools. Samples of the barlog (masons’ dialogue) are recorded. The characters in the trade are recalled, as are the journey masons. Also discussed are the lean times and the good times in the masonry trade.
