Des Byrne came to the Kilkenny Design Centre in 1968, to set up his silversmithing business. This recording was made in his workshop where he spoke about his apprenticeship in Dublin. Des spoke at great length about his craft, and of some of the fine pieces of work he was involved in creating, such as the replica of the Sam Maguire Cup.
