The home of the McDonalds, for many generations, is an old farm cottage which was originally thatched. There I recorded Eddie McDonald’s stories associated with old methods of farming, and the survival of many local farmers down through the most difficult times during the last 200 years. Other subjects discussed were field names, the spring well, and the local cow doctor.
