This recording with Frank Murphy was compiled in Wolfe Tone Villas, in the house in which he was born and grew up. He joined Pierces in 1969 and at that time a member of staff of Pierces was recruiting volunteers for the Opera Festival. Frank began work with Nick Hayes in lighting from 1970 to 1975. He details how professional lighting for the Opera House was sourced in those days, and says that in 1972 a show was performed which demanded more professional lighting, which was sourced from HTV in Wales. He describes the logistics of bringing that lighting system to Wexford, and installing it in the Theatre Royal. This was a fascinating recording as Frank speaks with passion and enthusiasm for his craft.
