Over the last 25 years, Maurice and Jane O’Keeffe of Irish Life and Lore have created oral history collections in most regions of Ireland and beyond. Some recorded interviews did not find their way into any particular project and were stored in the Irish Life and Lore archives. This year, work began on compiling the 2018 Oral History Collection, which consists of 81 of these recordings compiled between 2002 and 2018. The content of these recordings cover a broad range of topics in respect of Irish social history; we have listed these below under the following categories: The Shannon river; Celtic scholarship and mythology; Irish urban lore; farming practices; music/poetry/song; politics; Irish diaspora; business; nature; local history; family history; national archives and archeology; local customs/beliefs/pagan festivals; culture and heritage.
