Description
The Kelly house is in the townland of Lecarrow, which lies on the border of one of Ireland’s largest bogs. Kieran Kelly worked for 40 years with Bord na Mona, and he recalls all the place names associated with the bog, and traces the many families who survived on and lived off the bog. He recalls the hardships of the 1940s, and the great excitement when the ESB plant was opened nearby. Eilish Kelly spoke about her early days in Ferbane, and the living that her people also made from the bog.
