Track 1: Traced her family line back to her great-great-grandparents. Her great-great-grandfather, Denis Ganley, left Tubberclare in Co. Westmeath, and her great-great grandmother, Mary Murray, left Kilkenny in 1868. They met on the boat to Argentina and subsequently married. The reasons for this choice of location, where Denis was sheep herding and Mary was teaching. Described the strong cultural links to Irish music, language and dance which prevail in Buenos Aires to this day. Track 2: A newspaper of the time, The Southern Cross, part of which was published in the Irish language. Recalled returning to Ireland to research her family roots and investigate her ancestors’ home places.
