Peter Kealy’s farm cottage stands on the foothills of the Blackstairs Mountains. The recording took place as we walked through Peter Kealy’s farm. The local folktales were told in abundance and Peter sang local ballads which contained stories handed down from generation to generation. He has a passion for hurling which he played for the county for 15 years in the 1940s and 1950s. The self-sufficiency of the small farmer on the hillside was described as were the pastimes in the difficult years of the Emergency period.
