This recording begins with recollections of the McNeill family, who once lived and farmed in Currowbue. Stephen McNeill pointed out his grandfather’s house, fields, meadows and pasture garden. Our tour along the shores of the Shannon continued until we came to an old cottage, where Mary Ryan still resides, having arrived from Roscommon on the other side of the Shannon in 1942. We sat around the hearth, recalling memories of the people who once lived in what was a bustling area, now home to just one member of that earlier community.
