Tom and Maureen Daly grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Castlegregory village on the Dingle Peninsula. They recall the farm practices in earlier days, their schooldays, rural electrification and the arrival of the radio in their home. Also discussed were the village carnival, the local dancehall and the collecting of carrageen moss and seaweed from the seashore. The use of sand for cleaning floors and tables, and for bedding for cattle was also recalled. Maureen discusses her award of a scholarship, joining the Civil Service in Dublin and her work in the GPO in the Saving Certificate branch. She recalls the people who worked with Radio Eireann in an upper floor of the building. Early sponsored Radio Eireann shows are also remembered and discussed.
