In this recording Tom Ryan describes the origins of the Voluntary Health Insurance Company and the changing of premises over the years. Tom worked his way up through the company over 36 years until his retirement in 1993. It is valuable to have on record the history of the growth of the Company and Tom’s views of the merits and demerits of being a semi-state body. Also recorded are his opinions on the present situation in Irish hospitals.
