Noel McDonough’s father Lawrence worked for Lord Holmpatrick as a rent collector and it was most interesting to hear Noel’s recollections of fishing and farming and the involvement of the bailiffs. His earliest memory is of being present at Michael Collins’s funeral at Glasnevin in August 1922. He followed in his father’s footsteps and became rent collector for Lord Holmpatrick.
