Maureen Hegarty is a retired school teacher who speaks about her early life growing up close to Kilkenny city. Her father owned the first car in the area, bought in 1923, which proved a huge advantage to Maureen as a child. She taught in a South Wales convent during the Second World War, and later became a member of the Kilkenny Archaeological and Historical Society. Her involvement in the Society over the years has been of enormous benefit to Kilkenny.
