Anne Hamilton was born in Wiltshire in England, and as a young girl, would visit her aunt at Castlesize near Sallins, beside the Liffey. She discusses her ancestry and her husband’s family tree. She married Charles Hamilton in 1958 and moved to Hamwood House in Dunboyne in 1963, following the death of her father-in-law. She speaks frankly about the Land Commission and its work, and the breaking up of the large estates. She discusses her own parents and their reasons for settling in Ireland in her youth, and she recalls her late husband’s service in India with the Lancashire Fusiliers during the Second World War.
