Bill Dallas lives outside Kells in the townland of Martry. He grew up near Coleraine, and he speaks about his background in environmental consultancy. In 1970, he was headhunted by the mining industry, and he details the circumstances surrounding this. He began his career at Tara Mines in October 1971 as a senior manager. He recalls the management personnel, the difficulties and challenges of his position as he negotiated with the local people on environmental issues, and the initial opposition which he encountered. Having left Tara Mines after many years, he continued to work as an environmental consultant both abroad and around Ireland, and he discusses his many adventures. Also discussed in this recording is Bill’s grandfather who was a keen photographer who recorded many images during his travels Northern Ireland.
