The Duhallow Hunt accounted for a huge segment of the recreational life of the O’Meara family of Mallow in earlier days. Since early childhood, when his father placed him on the back of a pony, Dermot O’Meara has been hooked on the sport of hunting. He discusses in detail the meets, the hounds, the chase, the fox and the kill. In his younger days he relished the freedom of the open fields, the fresh air and great exercise, and the camaraderie which existed amongst the huntsmen and women. Dermot speaks of his solicitor’s practice in the early days and his love and passion for his profession in which he is still very much involved.
