Gertie Boland was recorded at her home in Teltown, close to the location of the Tailteann Games in antiquity. Gertie and her husband John were weavers, John at Navan Carpets and Gertie at Claytons. She recalls her work there from 1956 to 1962, her colleagues and her work experiences. She grew up on Connolly Avenue in Navan with her seven siblings. She has fond memories of the social occasions relating to the workplace, and she talks about the townspeople at that time. In 1973, she was a founder member of the ICA in her home area, and she is proud to be able to say that the association proved to be of huge benefit to local women. In the final stages of the recording John Boland recalls his thirty-one contented years as a weaver at Navan Carpets where he started work in 1964.
