Jim Crowley describes the Collins family background, noting that in 1906, while still in his mid-teens, Michael went to London to train as a post office clerk. Track 2: On location at Lisavaird, where Michael attended the local school, Jim Crowley describes those days of learning. Track 3: On location at Béal na mBláth, with historian Meda Ryan, who describes the struggle between Eamon de Valera and Michael Collins prior to the Civil War. A contribution from historian Ryle Dwyer, concerning the Troubles in West Cork may be heard, and both historians described the tragic event that occurred at Béal na mBláth on 22nd August 1922, resulting in the death of Michael Collins. Track 4: Historian Ryle Dwyer describes the aftermath of Collins’s death.
