Kathleen Maxwell is a very prominent member of the Irish Countrywomens Association. Her speciality is the making of porcelain dolls and dolls’ clothes. The conversation began with her memories of her schooldays in Mullingar. Her husband Ted spoke about working in the local garage after a short period of emigration to England, where he met Kathleen. The ICA Guild locally was started in 1964. Kathleen was very proud of her collection of embroidery, some of it Mountmellick work and her dolls which were made of wax, wood and porcelain. This was truly a fascinating insight into the fine crafts created by an ICA member.
