Kathleen Thompson was born in Cootehill, Co Cavan, and was from a farming background. She attended boarding school in Celbridge, and spoke about her experiences during the Troubles. A most interesting account was given of her father’s flax-growing. She went on to talk about her teaching career, and her first teaching appointment in Clara in 1926. She had never seen so many women wearing shawls, all working for Goodbody’s. She spoke about their lifestyle and their dwellings in vivid detail.
