Marie Fane was recorded at her home in Davitt Road, Wexford, where she has lived all her life. She recalls her father who was editor of the ‘Wexford People’ for many years. Her family was always involved in music, and this instilled in her a great appreciation for opera. She describes the introduction of the Opera Festival to the town of Wexford through the Opera Study Circle. In 1968 she was appointed to the Festival Council. In the recording she speaks eloquently about the character of Dr Tom Walsh.
