On this occasion Matt Mooney walked through his lands with me. Our first stop was at the monastery, which we discussed at great length and also discussed a motte, which was a very distinctive feature in the landscape. We spoke about local historical events down through the centuries. Matt also recalled the soldiers who settled in the area after the Battle of Kinsale and the march back to the north of the O’Neills, as well as the Wexford rebels in the 1798 rebellion. This conversation continued into part 3.
