Description
Paddy Brennan was born in Navan and grew up on the Boyne Road. Having finished school at 14 years of age, he worked with local farmers for two years before he began his apprenticeship as a chair-maker with Paddy Brown and Michael Mahon. He later began work with John Hogg and Co. He discusses the takeover of the company by Gael Linn and the turbulent times which ensued. A co-operative group was subsequently formed. He names the managers, the salesmen and the designers, and discusses the materials used and the suppliers. Paddy spent some time as a salesman until the group decided to sell directly to the public from new showrooms. He describes the logistics of the winding down of the group as the business came to an end.
