The Legge Brothers’ business was established in 1864 in Hill Street, off Parliament Street, Dublin. The company manufactured wooden bread trays and packing cases and was one of many small businesses operating in the centre of Dublin. In the late 1960s Reggie Goodbody was employed as a supervisor, in charge of 43 employees. He talks about the clients – Guinness, Coca-Cola and the Harry Clarke Studios. The business survived until the introduction of plastic. This is a fascinating recording, describing the type of packaging in use before the introduction of cardboard and plastics.
