Séamus O’Rourke is a native of Roscommon. His father was a teacher who had a strong Fianna Fáil background. Séamus joined the Munster and Leinster Bank in 1946 in Ballina, Co Mayo and he recalls his football days in Ballina, playing in the Minor team. He arrived in Wexford town in 1952 as assistant Bank Manager of the Munster and Leinster Bank. He recalls his friendship with Dr Tom Walsh, who saved his life on one occasion when he was very ill. He describes the early days of the Wexford Opera Festival, and details some of his favourite operas.
