On a visit to Holy Island on Lough Derg in Clare, I met with historians Sean Spellissy and Michael O’Connell, with poet Michael O’Gorman and boatsman Jerry Madden. They each spoke with passion and great interest about this mystical place, which pilgrims have visited for many centuries.
