Jack Carroll, an accomplished blacksmith, for most of his life shod horses and made and repaired gates, trailers and all kinds of farm implements at his forge at Milltown Cross. Soon after he left school at the age of 12, Jack went to serve his time with Mick Quinlan at Milltown, and when Mick died, Jack inherited the business and continued to ply his trade at the forge at Milltown for close on 70 years.
