Mairéad and Nicholas Furlong

Mairéad Furlong details her time in Wexford and her involvement in the Festival Council. She chronicles the intense personalised work over a five week period annually, with the visiting performers, and the wonderful memories of the early days in the sixties and seventies. She also speaks about her antiques business. Also, in this recording, Mairéad’s husband Nicholas Furlong, a local historian, recalls the history of music in Wexford, as well as the Cromwellian settlement in the area, and also the tragic destruction of some of the big houses in the county.
