‘KC’ Whelan grew up in John Street, in view of the Theatre Royal. His introduction to the Opera Festival began as a voluntary worker, and he later helped in administration at which he subsequently took up a permanent position. It is enlightening to hear KC talk about the logistics of the Festival and it is incredible that four permanent employees – the Chairman, the Administrator, the Artistic Director and the Secretary, alone managed such a mammoth task. He concludes by talking about the effect the Festival has on the people of Wexford as a whole, and his own current position as a fireworks operator.
