Ann Curtin, who is married to Don Curtin, is a native of Cork who arrived in Wexford in 1984, and immediately began to volunteer in bussing and transporting performers to and from Dublin airport. She also organised accommodation in houses in Wexford Town. She describes the many challenges that she encountered, such as language problems, finding suitable accommodation and keeping the performers happy. Ann was one of 250 volunteers at that time who strived to ensure that the Festival would be a success. Ann’s most memorable experience was when Scottish Opera came and worked with the Opera Festival in the 1980s, ensuring that the younger people would understand how opera works.
