Peggy Shiggins is a native of Dublin. Her maiden name was Curran, and her father came from the Kingdom of Kerry. She describes how her nursing profession brought her to Wexford town in 1946. She subsequently married the late Dr Richard Shiggins. She feels that her background in attending performances in her own city, at the Abbey and Gaiety theatres on a regular basis as a child, gave her an appreciation of the performance she experienced during the Festival in Wexford town. She fondly recalls her friendship and that of her late husband, with Dr Tom Walsh and his wife Eva.
