Brigid Killackey grew up on a small farm at Lispheastic (Lios of the Worms) near Clonfert, Co. Galway. She had seven siblings, two of whom died before she was born. She describes life in the 1930s/1940s in rural Co. Galway and speaks about the local customs, traditions, religious practices, children’s games and rural electrification in the area. She explains that everybody was self-sufficient, growing their own food and cooking this on the open hearth.
