This recording was compiled at the O’Sullivan home, in Coolea, where the family has lived for generations. Donal worked in forestry locally in earlier days and Maura took care of her parents till they passed away. The conversation ranged over many topics, including the local tight-knit community of great conversationalists and great neighbours and local folk memory about wells and the use of water. Placenames were discussed and explained and superstitions and beliefs were described, as were the natural materials used in the building of dwellings. The old faming traditions and the meitheal were recalled in this wonderfully diverse recording.
