At Dromahane Castle, the seat of the O’Callaghan family, retired school teacher John Joe Kavanagh recalls the old family and speaks at length about the family members over many generations. The recording continues along the road towards the St. Gobnait’s cell, locally known as Abbey’s Well, where famine victims found their rest. John Joe Kavanagh provides a most revealing description of this holy place. Across the fields stands a treble ring fort called Liss an Uisce, in the townland of Laharn, where John Joe recounts the fascinating lore associated with this ancient site.
